Duquesne transfer linebacker Ty Howard announces commitment to Ohio State
Former Duquesne linebacker Ty Howard will transfer to Ohio State for the 2025 season, he announced Sunday via X. He spent the past three seasons with the Dukes and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Howard had a breakout year in 2024 to earn first team all-Northeast Conference honors. He led all linebackers in the league with three interceptions to go along with four sacks, four passes defended, a fumble recovery and 52 total tackles.
Howard attended Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio, so his transfer to the Buckeyes also marks a return to his home state. He was unranked in the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Overall in his career at Duquesne, Ty Howard finished with 78 tackles (12 for loss), three interceptions, four passes defended and two fumble recoveries. He is the sixth overall player and the first linebacker that Ohio State has added in the portal so far.
The Buckeyes have also lost 10 players to transfer, but that number could increase once their season ends. Currently they are one of four teams still alive in the College Football Playoff with an opportunity to win a national championship.

Ohio State OL George Fitzpatrick enters NCAA transfer portal
Ohio State offensive tackle George Fitzpatrick has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed. He spent the past three seasons with the Buckeyes and will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
The 6-foot-6 lineman arrived in Columbus as a member of the Buckeyes’ 2022 recruiting class. He would go on to redshirt that season before appearing in three games the following year. This past season, Fitzpatrick saw action in 13 contests, including the College Football Playoff quarterfinals against Oregon.
As a recruit, Fitzpatrick was a four-star prospect out of Cherry Creek (CO) High School in the 2022 class. He ranked as the No. 228 overall player and No. 13 offensive tackle in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
