WATCH: Dwayne Haskins' father releases video celebrating his son's life
The football world is still mourning the loss of former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was recently killed in a tragic accident. Ohio State honored Haskins in a number of ways at the Buckeyes’ spring game on Saturday, and on Sunday, the father of Haskins released an emotional tribute to celebrate the life of his son.
Haskins’ father sent the video to Clay Hall, who then tweeted out the video at the request of the Haskins family. The video also included information on the celebration of life for Haskins. It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 23 from 12 p.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET. The event will be held at Christ Church in Rockaway Township, New Jersey.
There will be a Vigil at the Bullis School on Sunday, April 24 at 7 p.m. ET, where Haskins attended in high school. An alumni ceremony will also be held that day starting at 6 p.m.
Haskins was a star on the Ohio State team in 2018, throwing for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns while leading the Buckeyes to a 13-1 overall record. He broke multiple Big Ten and Ohio State records along the way, and will go down as one of the most impactful players to go through the Buckeyes program.

CJ Stroud honored Haskins at Ohio State’s spring game
When Ohio State took the field for Saturday’s spring game, there was a Haskins jersey on the field. That’s because Buckeyes quarterback CJ Stroud trotted out onto the field donning a Haskins jersey. Both Stroud and Haskins wore the No. 7 jersey, but in the spring game, the current Ohio State starting quarterback gave a great tribute to Haskins. Stroud wanted to honor Haskins, someone who he viewed as a big brother. Ohio State also played a tribute video of Haskins at halftime.
“I mean, I just wanted to honor his last moment in the ‘Shoe,” Stroud said. “I feel like that’s a big brother of mine, and I just wanted to honor him. It wasn’t nothing crazy to me. … I thought it would be important for him to go out the right way, so I’m glad his last play at the ‘Shoe was a touchdown. I’m excited for that.
“He’s an inspiration. He always has been. I even watched him when he was in high school. I used to watch the Elite 11 documentaries all the time – he was one of those dudes on there, so I used to watch him in that, looked up his highlights after and went from there just studying his career. He was just a big-time player, big-time dude – not just on the field, both off as well.”
