Joe Burrow, who played with Haskins during his time for the Buckeyes, took to social media to share a tribute and short message toward his former teammate and friend.
“Tough to find words, you will be missed,” the Bengals quarterback said of Haskins while sharing a video of the two shaking hands after a recent NFL game.

When the devastating news broke on Saturday, current and former teammates, broadcasters, coaches and friends shared stories as they began to process the reality that Haskins — at just age 24 — will no longer get to pursue his dreams, while leaving a family behind.
“This is a tough morning,” ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who also went to Ohio State, took said of the passing of Dwayne Haskins on Sportscenter Saturday morning
“I’m with my family right now, we’re actually down in Clemson heading over to Clemson’s spring game to see my son, and it just took your breath away. It’s one of those things where a 24-year-old lost his life, to me, I don’t even think about football. I think about him and his family.
“He’s such a great young man. Just a tragic, tragic morning and I think you remember that piece that they did on College GameDay when he was about 10 or 11 years old and was in the Ohio State training room … just showing how he dreamt his whole life about being a Buckeye and was able to make that a reality and became such a superstar of a player and chased that dream. Then he went on to the NFL. For me, as I’m driving the car, I just found out about this news about 20, 30 minutes ago. I talked with Ryan Day a little bit earlier and we were just reminiscing about him as a person, as well, just what a class act he was.

“It’s just one of the things you almost can’t even believe it’s real. You just can’t believe it’s happened. So my thoughts and my prayers are out there to him and to his family.”
Dwayne Haskins captured the hearts of Ohio State fans throughout his time in Columbus. The star quarterback led the Buckeyes to tremendous success, including capping his collegiate career with a victory in the Rose Bowl.
Afterwards, Haskins was drafted by the Washington Redskins with the No. 15 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Highland Park, New Jersey native had his moments with the franchise, but the team went in a different direction following the 2020 season.
Since, Haskins has been a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Tomlin was impressed with the young man, and Haskins was ready to battle Mitchell Trubisky, Mason Rudolph and a possible rookie quarterback for the starting job. His career was turning around, and Haskins seemed more motivated than ever to turn his doubters into supporters.
The heartbreak will linger, and Dwayne Haskins won’t be forgotten by football fans around the world. The collective football world is sending prayers to his family
