Emeka Egbuka makes acrobatic catch in fall camp
Emeka Egbuka had some of the best ball skills in the country coming out of high school. Simply put, he was the No. 1 ranked wide receiver in the 2021 cycle for a reason. Egbuka even reeled in Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 2020 for Steilacoom (Steilacoom, Washington). Once he got to start last year for the Buckeyes, he wasted little time in showing off his incredible ball skills–hauling in 1,151 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches. He looks to be one of the next great wide receivers in Scarlet and Gray.
On Saturday in fall camp, Egbuka was at it again, tipping a ball to himself and reeling it in while falling to the ground.

Egbuka has earned preseason first team All-American honors for the 2023 campaign and after watching catches like that one, it’s easy to see why. He’ll be nearly impossible to defend and with Marvin Harrison, Jr. on the other side. Two words: good luck. Harrison is expected to be a top 3 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and Egbuka won’t be very far behind.
Emeka Egbuka has elite ball skills and is a rare, rare talent
According to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2021 cycle, he was rated as the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in America and a five-star recruit. He was also ranked as the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Egbuka’s elite ball skills were on fine display in his high school career, and we saw that not only when he was a wide receiver, but as a defensive back. During his junior season, he snatched seven interceptions and returned two of them for touchdowns. On special teams, he also demonstrated his electrifying playmaking ability, returning three punts for touchdowns. Following his remarkable junior season, he was also named as the 2019-2020 Gatorade Football Player of the Year for the state of Washington.
College football fans should pull up a seat for the Buckeyes’ passing attack this season, because we could be witnessing what many are calling the greatest wide receiver duo in Ohio State football history in Egbuka and Harrison. It’ll likely be the last time we see both players in a college uniform. In CBS Sports’ mock draft, they pegged Egbuka to be selected at No. 9 overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
