ESPN draft experts rave about potential of Marvin Harrison Jr.
There has been no denying Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. this season. He’s only gotten better as the season has progressed, and NFL scouts and draft analysts alike have taken notice.
ESPN’s Jordan Reid’s midseason 2024 NFL Mock Draft has the Buckeye superstar going No. 2 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.
“There’s no way you can pass up Marvin Harrison Jr.,” Reid said during a breakdown of his mock draft. “I’m expecting Kyler Murray to come back and look how he did prior to his injury. If he does, you have to take Marvin Harrison Jr. here.”
On the season, Harrison Jr. has hauled in 42 receptions for 766 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 18.2 yards per catch. His sophomore season was even more impressive having caught 77 passes for 1,263 yards for 14 touchdowns, bringing his career totals to over 2,000 receiving yards and counting.
If the Cardinals are on the board, and they don’t select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye — Harrison is a no-brainer, slam-dunk pick.
“With Arizona, yeah, you could move on from Kyler,” his colleague, Matt Miller said. “It’s going to be pretty expensive to do so over the next couple of years. Marvin Harrison Jr. is so special. There aren’t enough ways to talk about a player who — to be 6-foot-4, 210 pounds and have the body control and flexibility that he has.

“I think it gets lost on people. Like, he’s the son of a Hall of Famer, he’s really good. No — he’s great. And the savviness that he plays with is so special. I know this past week against Penn State everyone knew where the ball was going. It didn’t matter, Kalen King couldn’t stop him, nobody could stop him. He definitely deserves all the flowers for how great of a prospect he is. If you’re on the clock, you draft him. It doesn’t matter if you need a wide receiver or not.”
Harrison Jr. was the difference-maker against the Nittany Lions. He went for a career-high 162 receiving yards and a touchdown during the contest, bringing his total to one scoring reception in each of the last three games.
As Harrison Jr.’s ultimate goal of the NFL looms closer, the Ohio State has to deal with Wisconsin this weekend and get through the remainder of the season before turning his attention toward the pros.
