WATCH: Five-star Emeka Egbuka makes epic one handed catch in Ohio State practice
Ohio State sophomore Emeka Egbuka was one of the most decorated prospects in America coming out of high school and with good reason — he put up mind-boggling stats. The sure-handed wide receiver caught 199 passes for nearly 4,000 receiving yards and 61 touchdowns during his spectacular high school career for Steilacoom (Steilacoom, Washington). The former five-star prospect’s numbers were compiled without even playing a senior season, due to COVID-19. He’s got incredible ball skills and on Saturday at an Ohio State practice, Egbuka was once again showing his phenomenal hands.
Check out this epic one-handed snag he made in practice Saturday.
It was not only a beautiful one-handed grab in stride by Egbuka, but a beautifully spun spiral by the quarterback who threw it. Ohio State fans are hoping it’s a glimpse of great things to come during the 2022-2023 season and beyond. With former Buckeye stars Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson moving on to NFL riches, next season will be Egbuka’s time to shine.
Emeka Egbuka has elite ball skills and is a rare, rare talent
Ohio State fans have every reason to be excited about the Washington native. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2021 cycle, he was rated as the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in America for that class. He was also ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. The Buckeyes will yet again have one of the most unstoppable passing attacks in America with Egbuka teaming up with Marvin Harrison, Jr. and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. It also won’t hurt having one of the nation’s best quarterback spinning them spirals in former Heisman Trophy finalist, C.J. Stroud.

Egbuka’s elite ball skills were on fine display in his high school career and we saw that not only when he was a wide receiver, but as a defensive back. During his junior season, he snatched seven interceptions and returned two of them for touchdowns. On special teams, he also demonstrated his electrifying playmaking ability, returning three punts for touchdowns. Following his remarkable junior season, he was also named as the 2019-2020 Gatorade Football Player of the Year for the state of Washington.
The Ohio State spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at Ohio Stadium with a noon start time.
