One-time Georgia defensive back commit Kayin Lee reopened his recruitment in February, and he has seen plenty of new suitors emerge. Among them is Ohio State, which will host Lee on an unofficial visit tomorrow, he announced on Twitter.

Lee is the No. 152 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 17 cornerback and the No. 15 junior prospect in Georgia.

The Industry Comparison shows On3 is much higher than the rest of the recruiting industry on Lee, though. In the most recent On300 ranking, Lee was tabbed as the country’s 75th-best prospect, No. 10 cornerback and No. 5 Peach State player.

Buckeyes’ Ryan Day recently hired Miguel Patrick as an analyst and Patrick was Lee’s head coach two years ago. That connection only helps the Buckeye’s chances, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.

“Ohio State getting Coach Patrick means a lot to me,” Lee told Simmons. “It just gives me that much more trust in them. We have a very close relationship, I know he wants the best for me, so talking to him is very important. Him, Coach Walton, Coach Day, and that staff is recruiting me hard.”

Other schools pushing for Kayin Lee

The Buckeyes were one of Lee’s finalists the first time around before chose the in-state Bulldogs. In addition to OSU, ArkansasAuburnFlorida StateMiamiNorth CarolinaOhio StateOregon and Tennessee are some that are reaching out to Lee daily. The Buckeyes are expected to get one of his official visits, as is Oregon, where former Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning is now the Ducks’ head man.

“I am wide open to all schools and playing early is most important as I narrow things down,” Lee said. “There are other things, but that is definitely the biggest factor for me. I want to get on the field as a freshman, so I am looking at the depth charts.”
