Four-star Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna EDGE Kenyatta Jackson Jr. has been quiet on the recruiting front since his commitment to Ohio State in October.

But the four-star has been anything but that on the field. Friday night in Chaminade-Madonna’s state championship matchup, Jackson Jr. showed why the Buckeyes are so high on him.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder stands the offensive tackle across from him up, then violently shrugs him and hits the quarterback for a blind-side strip sack. It’s exactly that combination of size and strength that makes Jackson a nightmare for offensive linemen.

Jackson is the No. 71 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 7 EDGE and the No. 11 prospect in Florida.

Ohio State beat out Oklahoma for Kenyatta Jackson Jr.

The Buckeyes had plenty of competition for Jackson, but ultimately he decided between Ohio State and Oklahoma.

“It came down to my relationship with the staff, the history behind the school, and their development of defensive ends,” Jackson said. “Those things, my visits there, and my gut led me to pick Ohio State.”

Jackson has visited Columbus a couple of times. He was there once in June, then again in July, and there was one constant feeling when he was on the Ohio State campus.

“Family was what I felt when I was there both times,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “It was family vibes and that is what I was looking for. … I have always wanted to go to college, get a degree, play great football, and feel like I am part of a family. That is what I am getting at Ohio State.”

Kenyatta Jackson Scouting Summary

Long, productive pass rusher with NFL pedigree. Uses his long levers and quick hands to disengage from opposing offensive tackles. Closes quickly and finishes with authority behind the line of scrimmage at a high rate. Has the ability to dip and bend around the edge. Makes some high effort plays in pursuit. Owns a stout frame and should continue packing on mass at the college level. Had a big senior season, being named Florida’s Gatorade Player of the Year. The bits of verified athleticism we do have are average for the position.” — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
