Class of 2023 four-star prospect Scotty Middleton has committed to Ohio State, he tells On3.

The 6-foot-7, 175-pound small forward of Wichita (Kan.) Sunrise Christian Academy ultimately chose the Buckeyes over Seton Hall and UConn. He also received offers from Kansas, Texas A&M, Michigan State, and others.

Middleton is the No. 47 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 small forward and the No. 3 overall player in the state of Kansas.

Joining Middleton in Columbus is four-star forward Devin Royal, four-star combo guard George Washington III, and three-star center Austin Parks.

Middleton on his commitment to Ohio State

“Ultimately I chose Ohio State because of the culture and the trust I’ve built with the coaches. They have a saying at Ohio state ‘once a buckeye, always a buckeye’ so really seeing all the former guys come back to work out, compete, and teach the players just shows how true that is.”

What type of player is Ohio State getting in Scotty Middleton?

“The program is getting a long athletic wing who can guard multiple positions, a guy who can score at all three levels and an ultimate leader.”

Middleton has a message for Ohio State fans.

“Let’s work! I’m super excited to be a Buckeye and can’t wait to be in Columbus putting on a show with my guys.”

Scouting Summary

Scotty Middleton is a versatile defender. He has the length and motor to guard on or off the ball and the size to defend up a lineup. With his feet set, Middleton can knock down a jump shot and is excellent in transition, switching ends quickly. He will need to continue tightening his ball skills and shooting off the bounce, but his motor keeps him productive.
