Indiana guard Gabe Cupps has committed to Ohio State out of the NCAA transfer portal. He announced the news Wednesday on his Instagram account.

Cupps is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore. He appeared in just four games for Indiana during the 2024-25 season but had a much more productive freshman campaign.

As a freshman in 2023-24, Gabe Cupps averaged 2.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He played in 33 contests, starting in 22 of them.

In two seasons, Cupps has shot 33.3% from 3-point range. He shot 35.9% as a freshman but missed his only three attempts of the 2024-25 season.

Gabe Cupps will have a decent shot at claiming a medical redshirt after suffering a meniscus injury just four games into the season. He played only 25 minutes total before the season-ending injury.

Prior to enrolling at Indiana, Gabe Cupps was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 101 overall player in the nation in the 2023 recruiting class. He also checked in as the No. 20 ranked player at his position and the No. 3 overall player in the state of Ohio, hailing from Dayton (OH) Centerville.

Ohio State loses center Austin Parks

While Gabe Cupps will be a quality addition for the Buckeyes, they’ve also lost some pieces to the NCAA transfer portal. One such player was a big man.

Ohio State center Austin Parks plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced last week via Twitter. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Parks spent the past two seasons with the Buckeyes and appeared in 24 games during that span. That included 15 during the 2024-25 season as he averaged 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds across 8.4 minutes per game.

“I’d like to thank Ohio State, coach Diebler and every assistant, teammate and fan of the scarlet and gray for allowing me to be a part of this prestigious program over the last two years,” Parks wrote. “I’ve been taught so many life lessons, formed life-long friendships and am forever thankful for my time in Columbus. I am choosing to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining, and am looking forward to finding my last stop to call home.”

Parks played high school basketball at St. Mary’s Memorial (OH), where he was a three-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 181 overall player and No. 25 center in the 2023 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
