Jamari Wheeler announces intentions for 2022 season

With the end of the 2021-2022 college basketball season, many fans across the country have gotten to learn the intentions of the players on their respective rosters. Some might choose to return to school for another year, some might enter the transfer portal, and some might declare for the 2022 NBA Draft. On Thursday evening, Ohio State fans learned that Buckeye guard Jamari Wheeler will hire a agent and enter his name in the 2022 NBA Draft, per an announcement he posted on Instagram.

“I want to start off by saying thank you Buckeye Nation, Coach Holtmann and his staff and also my teammates #Team123 for making OSU feel like a home from day one. This place is ever special to me and will hold a special place in my heart,” Wheeler wrote.

Last season, Wheeler averaged 7.1 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and 2.9 assists per game for the Buckeyes. An excellent defender, he was also named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team in 2020 and 2021. Prior to joining Ohio State, he played in 127 games over four seasons with the Penn State Nittany Lions. He averaged 3.8 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game during that time.
