Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver and Ohio State commit Jeremiah Smith has been pledged to the Buckeyes, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from continuing to recruit him.

The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna star still regularly hears from Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Miami and others. He reportedly visited the Hurricanes over the weekend, but it appears that will be his last trip in Coral Gables.

After a now-deleted tweet about Miami fans was sent out by Smith, one responded asking why he still continues to come to campus. Smith answered by saying that he won’t visit the Hurricanes again.

The Hurricanes have hosted him more than half a dozen times as a recruit, and were looking to flip him with a strong performance on the field this fall. However, despite visiting other programs — including Georgia and Florida — he remains locked in with the Buckeyes.

Ohio State continues to recruit him

He’ll be back in Columbus for the spring game, his first trip since September, when he saw the Buckeyes’ win over Notre Dame inside the Horseshoe.

“Everything’s going smooth right now,” Smith told On3 last month. “They still recruit me the same way, and they just tell me they’re ready for me to graduate and get up there, be a dog and compete, that’s all.”

Wide receivers coach Brian Hartline is a major reason for why Smith wants to be a Buckeye.

“The receiver production they have over the past couple years, how can you not like Ohio State and Coach Hartline?” he said. “He’s really good at what he does, probably one of the best to do ever do it honestly.”

Other schools in contact as well with Jeremiah Smith

In addition to the Bulldogs, Florida and Florida State are both looking to flip the top recruiting from the Sunshine State this cycle. The Gators recently hired a new receivers coach, so most of Smith’s contact has been with head coach Billy Napier, but he is scheduled to talk to Billy Gonzales soon.

As it stands now though, it will be very hard for any program to pull him away from the one in Columbus.

“I’m locked in but keeping my options open because you never know what could happen,” Smith said of his current status. “A coach can get fired, coaches change jobs, stuff like that, so I just want to make sure that if Coach Hartline and Coach Day are there, I’m good.”
