Ohio State managed to knock off Wisconsin in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, in part because of a big game by forward Justice Sueing.

Despite a tough matchup, Sueing managed to score 16 points in the contest. One shot in particular, he really developed a rhythm with during the game.

Tyler Wahl does a great job defending in the post, for real,” Sueing explained. “He got me a couple times with some charges, so I kind of baited him a little bit to get to that shot. It’s a shot I feel comfortable shooting and I had to adjust as the game was going on, picking up some offensive fouls and what not.”

Wahl got his, as well, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 boards in a stat-stuffing double-double. He laso added three assist, three steals and a block.

But Sueing was very nearly his equal counterpart. On top of his scoring line, Sueing also had five rebounds and a steal.

It was enough to allow Ohio State to pull ahead as the backcourt chipped in plenty of firepower to complement Justice Sueing in the win over Wisconsin, which allowed the Buckeyes to survive and advance.

Bruce Thornton explains key to moving on in the Big Ten Tournament

Ohio State star freshman Bruce Thornton sat down at the desk with the Big Ten Network crew covering the tournament and gave his thoughts on Wednesday night’s victory and surviving Wisconsin’s second half comeback attempt.

“It was a fun experience playing against a good Wisconsin team,” said Thornton. “We came out very strong. (In the) second half, we didn’t play as well, but we still fought through at the end of the day and got the win.

“We just keep fighting. We went through a rough patch in mid-January, February. But we kept fighting. We knew we had an opportunity in the Big Ten Tournament. And we got the W today against Wisconsin. Now we gotta move on to Iowa…They’re a good team. I felt like being up that much was too good to be true. I just know, like with every team in the Big Ten, it’s going to be a 40-minute game. So we kept fighting, and we persevered, and we got the win.”

“I think I did,” Thornton said. “I just kept working. My teammates, the coaching staff, and the fanbase — they kept supporting me. And I kept putting in the work and it is finally coming out. Thanks to my teammates and my coaches for letting me be me. I’m just being me right now, and we got the win.”
