LOOK: 2024 5-star WR Jeremiah Smith visits Ohio State
Ohio State is becoming one of the go-to schools for blue-chip wide receiver prospects. In their 2023 class, the Buckeyes have commitments from three top-50 wideouts in Miami Gardens (Fla.) American Heritage five-star Brandon Inniss, Chicago (Ill.) IMG Academy four-star Carnell Tate and Rolesville (N.C.) four-star Noah Rogers. They may add one of the best pass-catchers in the 2024 cycle, as well.
Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was in Columbus this weekend for Ohio State’s 21-10 win over Notre Dame. He posted a picture from the unofficial visit with high school teammate and fellow five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader, as well as Chandler (Ariz.) five-star quarterback and Ohio State commit Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Consensus.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Buckeyes have a commanding lead to land Smith’s commitment at 95.8%. The RPM also lists Ohio State as the favorite for Trader at 89.2%.
Inside Smith’s interest in Ohio State and his recruitment
Smith is rated as the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2024 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player from Florida.
The 6-foot-3, 185 pound wideout has received more than 30 offers from schools including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Notre Dame. He is also taking an unofficial visit to Texas A&M in September alongside Trader.

However, Ohio State has made an impression on the five-star, who has taken four trips to see the program. On his visit in April, he spent time with wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.
“I got to watch practice, see how Coach Hartline runs the practice,” Smith told Sam Spiegelman in June. “I put down to (watch) film with him, spoke to me about my family, how they’re doing, and how I was doing in spring football. It was great up there and that’s how it is. He doesn’t like to talk football; it’s more about family, how they’re doing, how I’m doing in other sports and school, and that’s one thing I look at it with coaches.”
Smith has an On3 NIL Valuation of $152K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Jeremiah Smith On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Jeremiah Smith:
“Big, skilled receiver with fluidity and savvy for the position. Measured in at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds prior to his junior season. Had a breakout 2021 season, helping his Chaminade-Madonna team to a state championship. Turned in several strong performances, including a big state title game. Polished route-runner at this early stage. Smooth mover with some technical refinement that allows for separation. Shows good ball skills with his ability to track the football over his shoulder. Does not register as a top athlete in the combine setting at this stage. Can further take advantage of his size by continuing to improve his contested catch skills.”
