Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles announced his future plans on Friday. He’s declaring for the NFL Draft.

Well, the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ruggles took to Twitter to make the big announcement. On the surface, you might think he’s declaring for this year’s draft, which is coming up in April.

But read a little closer.

“Just want to thank Buckeye Nation for supporting me and making Columbus feel like home,” Ruggles wrote. “After long discussion and thought with my family, I have decided to declare for the 2023 draft… Run it back!”

Ruggles was the most accurate kicker in the Big Ten this season, making 95.2% of his kicks this season. His only miss came against Michigan State when he missed a 38-yard attempt in Ohio State’s 56-7 win over the Spartans. However, he made all 74 of his extra point attempts this season and is a perfect 122 for 122 on PATs during his four-year career, which started at North Carolina.

He’ll try to stay perfect next year. For now, though, draft experts have a name they can write in for their 2023 NFL mock drafts.

Ohio State went 11-2 this year and won a thrilling Rose Bowl shootout with Utah on New Year’s Day. The Buckeyes bring back plenty of key contributors next year, notably quarterback CJ Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Ohio State offensive tackle announces return for 2022 season in hilarious fashion

Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones will return to Columbus for the 2022 season, he announced Monday. Jones had some fun breaking the news, taking to Twitter for a lighthearted post in the third person.

“Breaking News: Dawand Jones will be returning for his senior year at Ohio State,” he wrote.

Jones just finished his third season with the Buckeyes after joining the team as a three-star recruit in 2019. He was the No. 60 offensive tackle in the 2019 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He committed to Ohio State over offers from Michigan, Oregon, Texas and others.

A native of Indianapolis, he helped Ben Davis High School to a state championship as a junior in 2017. Jones also excelled on the basketball court, where he averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game, earning a few Division I offers.

The Buckeyes were statistically the best offensive teams in the country this past season. They finished first in FBS in both total offense and scoring offense. Considered a favorite to make the College Football Playoff for much of the season, Ohio State ultimately missed out because of a loss to Michigan in the final game of the regular season.
