Kyle McCord endorses Marvin Harrison Jr. for Heisman
Kyle McCord thinks the Heisman Trophy should go to the best player regardless of position, so Marvin Harrison Jr.
The Ohio State wide receiver is the best player, pound-for-pound nationwide, according to McCord. Especially as of late, Harrison Jr. is showing why he’s the best wide receiver in college football and is projected to be the first pass catcher selected in next year’s NFL Draft.
As the season gets to its final stretch, McCord said Harrison Jr. is more than deserving of the award based on his impact on the team.
“Yeah, I mean, if it’s truly the award that goes to the best player in college football, I don’t see how he’s not in the mix,” McCord said. “I mean, obviously, what he’s done, especially these last few games, I think, you know, I don’t know if we’ve seen kind of a stretch like that just how consistent he is, how reliable he is. So, obviously, you guys say just like I do, he’s done a great job and obviously he’s a lot of fun to play with.”
In seven games this season, Harrison Jr. has 42 catches for 766 yards, six touchdowns and 18.2 yards per catch. He finished the 2022 campaign with 77 catches for 1,263 yards, 14 touchdowns and 16.4 yards per catch.

McCord is confident that whenever he throws the football in Harrison Jr.’s direction, his teammate is going to catch the ball.
“Yeah, I think regardless of the coverage, you know, in the back of my mind, I know there’s a good chance Marvin is gonna get open,” McCord said. “And so anytime they give me an opportunity to get him the ball, and that’s what they’re representing, that’s what I tried to do.
“He gets the attention that he deserves and rightfully so. And I think that opens up other guys but at the same time, you know, you can’t double them all game, you can’t give them extra coverage all game and there’s going to be some one-on-one situations. And, you know, I’ve said this and I’ll say it again, there’s not a matchup in the country for Marvin in one-on-one (coverage) that I don’t like.”
As a member of the Class of 2021, Harrison Jr. was a four-star recruit out of Philadelphia (Pa.)
