The injury big hasn’t been kind to Ohio State this season. The Buckeyes remain 6-0 but the wild thing is that they’ve played almost none of them at full strength. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been the glaring omission but the running back room in Columbus has taken some bumps as well. Coming off the bye and heading into their next game against Iowa, though, Ryan Day is expecting better availability this weekend.
Day updated the statuses of both Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson during his press conference on Thursday. He highlighted how imperative the bye week was for both and the expectation that both will play against the Hawkeyes.

“Yeah, we are (Williams and Henderson to be available). It’s great to have both of those guys back,” said Day. “I think the bye week really helped the both of them. Looking to have a full-strength running back corps.”

Williams missed Ohio State’s most recent win over Michigan State two weekends ago. Henderson played in East Lansing but missed the Buckeye’s previous win over Rutgers. That pair has combined to be the workhorses in the program’s running back rotation with combined stats of 933 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 133 attempts. Dallan Hayden has played well as their RB3. Still, Williams and Henderson are obviously the featured players in that part of the Buckeye offense.
Ohio State’s offense has a ton of success in the passing game and they could potentially be getting a boost as well with a return from Smith-Njigba. However, their rushing attack is what adds an extra layer of balance. Having both Williams and Henderson available and healthy will be big for their push in the Big Ten and to make the CFP during the second half of their season.
