Petit-Frere says goodbye to Ohio State
Captioned with lyrics from Ohio State’s fight song, Petit-Frere shared his official statement on his Twitter account.
“I would first like to say thank you. Thank you for embracing me and allowing me to become a Buckeye over these last four years. It has been a blessing and an honor to don the Scarlet and Gray for Ohio State.
“I would like to thank The Brotherhood. Thank you to my teammates, coaches, strength coaches, athletic trainers, nutrition staff, academics, and everyone else who along the way grew, inspired, and motivated me to be my very best every single day.
“Thank you to my family, who believed in me every single day and loved me when I was at my lows and my highs.
“Lastly, to my friends, teachers, former coaches and anyone else who has helped me along the way, thank you for impacting my life and allowing me to be where I am now.
“I will continue the passing of the torch to the new generation at The Ohio State and announce my declaration into the NFL Draft.”

Ohio State has four players opt-out of bowl game
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day commented on Monday about the Buckeyes losing four of their star players for the Rose Bowl after they opted out to prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Ohio State will be without receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, defensive lineman Haskell Garrett and offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere as all four players have opted out of the final game of the season.
“Certainly love those guys and appreciate everything they’ve done for the program,” said Day via On3’s Austin Ward. “The guys have had a good month of practice, and we’re going to move forward with what we have.”
On Monday, Olave’s announcement that he would miss the Rose Bowl put one more dent in the Buckeyes game plan against Utah. Losing two of their highest profile offensive weapons would be bad enough, but they are also going to be without the defensive leader of their team in Haskell Garrett. In addition, their offensive line will be without one of the most reliable pieces in Petit-Frere.
