Nick Saban is not going to have many fans left in Columbus, Ohio. The former coach went in on Buckeyes fans when asked about Ohio State on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Friday.

As for the Buckeyes themselves, Saban believes they’re the most talented team in the country and one that can win the College Football Playoff. However, that’s also dependent on whether or not they’re playing their best in their game.

“Yeah, I think they’re the most talented team. But, you know, you mentioned A-game. How consistently do they play to their capabilities? I think that’s the consistency and performance that you’re looking for to be successful,” said Saban. “If they play like they played against Tennessee, they’re going to have a really good chance to have a chance to win a championship.”

“I think this is probably the most talented team if they play to the standard and the level,” Saban said. “Offense, defense – they pretty much got it all.”

However, when it came to Ohio State’s fanbase, Saban was much more critical. He thinks, while he knows what happened in The Game, they’ve gone too far in how that loss has affected them, especially considering what their team can still accomplish in the CFP.

“You know, we’ve kind of gotten on their, sort of, fans a little bit. But, you know, these Ohio State fans? You know, they’ve got a psychotic obsession with Michigan and they need to go get therapy or something to try to get it fixed,” Saban said. “They have a chance to win the national championship and here you are, you know, and nobody’s excited about their opportunity to play because they, you know, lost to Michigan, which was a tough game and they lost the game, probably, by some of the mistakes that they made. Those are correctable things.”

Ohio State is in as pressurized of a position as any team in the playoff. With that loss to the maize & blue to end the regular season, every game from here on out isn’t just a must-win literally in the postseason but feels like a must-win from what those fans are demanding and requiring from Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. Whether justified or not, that’s the reality of it in Columbus.

Still, Ohio State, at its best, remains one of the likeliest teams of those now in the quarterfinals to win the national title. That might also now be the only treatment for some of their fans, though, for how they currently view the program.
