Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star running back Jordan Lyle may not be the first name associated with Ohio State’s elite 2024 recruiting class, but he’s working to change that.

The 6-foot, 190-pounder acquired perhaps his best highlight of the season on Friday night, as he pulled off an absurd touchdown run that almost needs to be seen to be believed. Lyle bounced off tackle after tackle, eventually barreling his way into the end zone for the score.

Lyle is the No. 157 overall prospect and No. 11 tailback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 19 player in Florida.

He committed to Ohio State on April 29, choosing the Buckeyes over the likes of Miami, Florida State, Alabama and Georgia. Lyle is one of 12 top-200 prospects committed to OSU in the 2024 class.

“Really what led me to Ohio State was the genuine love and development of the players that I saw,” Lyle told On3. “The coaches are extremely great people that want the best out of you and I would love to be around people like that. When I went up there on a visit, the practice had so much energy and emotion. I would definitely want to see myself in that type of environment. Ohio State has always been a dream school of mine since Zeke (Elliot) played. I can’t wait to join the Buckeye Nation.”

Lyle has an On3 NIL Valuation of $93K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Jordan Lyle Scouting Summary

“Refined, efficient running back with a well-rounded, translatable skill set as a rusher. Measured at around 6-feet, 185 pounds prior to his junior season. Looks to have added some mass since that time. A natural runner. Shows high-level lateral agility, vision and contact balance. Reads his blocks well. Shows quick feet in working through the line. Understands angles and sets up second level defenders. Tempos his runs. Bounces off tackles and is hard for linebackers and defenders to bring down. Has an array of moves to force missed tackles. Shows solid speed in the open field but is not a blazer when it comes to the top end.

…Worked in a split backfield for South Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas as a junior. Was very efficient in his carries, rushing for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 91 carries (11.2 yards per carry). Will need to continue adding mass to his frame. Does not have quite the workload or raw production of most other blue chip backs entering his senior year as a good chunk of his yardage came in a handful of games.”
