The Ohio State football program announced this summer it would have a ‘blackout’ game against Wisconsin on Sept. 24 and on Tuesday revealed the black helmet the Buckeyes will wear against the Badgers.

It will be the first time Ohio State has broken out its black alternates since 2019. Ohio State beat Michigan State 34-10 in 2019 the last time it wore the black alternates and the Buckeyes are a perfect 3-0 all time in the black.

Ohio State dropped a hype video with the helmet reveal on Tuesday.

Already with one win over a quality opponent this season, Ohio State will be looking to begin Big Ten play with a bang. The Buckeyes knocked off then-No. 5 Notre Dame in the season opener, but the Fighting Irish have since taken a serious tumble and are now unranked.

Wisconsin also entered the season ranked but no longer is after falling to Washington State in Week 2.

The Buckeyes, black helmets or not, have certainly had the upper hand on the Badgers of late, too. Ohio State has won the last eight games in the series, with Wisconsin’s last win coming in a 31-18 victory in 2010 in Columbus.

Three of the last five meetings have been in the Big Ten Championship Game, with Ohio State blasting Wisconsin in 2014 before winning more competitive title games in both 2017 and 2019.

In any case, Buckeyes fans will be hyped on Saturday night.

The Big Ten conference matchup is slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff with a national broadcast on ABC under the lights.

Ohio State opened as an 18.5-point favorite in the game. The Buckeyes (3-0) have been a double-digit favorite for all their games this season. The Badgers (2-1) are the underdog for the first time this season but will get a chance to pull an upset with the eyes of the nation upon them.
