Ohio State trending for 4-star WR Phillip Bell
Mission Viejo (Calif.) four-star wide receiver Phillip Bell is fresh off of an official visit to Ohio State, and now the Buckeyes are trending for Bell in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
On3’s Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong both logged expert predictions favoring Ohio State to land Bell’s commitment. The Buckeyes now lead at 83.6% in the RPM.
Bell’s official visit to Columbus followed trips to Georgia, Washington and Penn State. Official visits to Tennessee (June 18) and USC (June 21) are on deck.
The 6-foot-0.5, 200-pound Bell is the nation’s No. 173 overall prospect, No. 20 wide receiver and No. 17 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Phillip Bell high on Ohio State after visit
This latest trip to Ohio State was Bell’s fourth time in Columbus.
“This was my fourth time there and it was another great visit,” Bell told On3. “I have seen about everything before, so this was more about continuing to build relationships with the people there. It was good for me, it was good for my family and I had another good visit to Ohio State.”
Most of the visit was about meeting with the Buckeyes coaching staff and detailing their plan for Bell in the Scarlet and Gray.

“Coming into the visit, Ohio State told me they wanted to make sure they checked all the boxes that mattered to me and they did that. They call themselves developers for a reason and the proof is in the pudding.
“They know the biggest thing for me is development. I sat down with coach Brian Hartline and watched film. We talked a lot of ball. We went over a lot of things. He showed me how they would use me, where I would line up and how he could develop me.
“Then I met with coach Chip Kelly and we talked offense. He is a great mind and has had a lot of success in college and NFL, so I like him a lot. Coach Ryan Day was in there too, and he is an offensive-minded head coach that knows a lot about my side of the ball.
“The coaches know what was most important to me and they did a great job. If I went to Ohio State, I would be developed and have a chance to play for some great coaches.”
