The Ohio State Buckeyes have suited up against many different in-state Mid-American Conference opponents over the years. They get back to that this week when they face off against the Toledo Rockets in Week 3. Check out the hype video the Buckeyes released on Twitter on Thursday night to get everybody amped up for the matchup.

The Buckeyes throttled the Arkansas State Red Wolves last week to the tune of 45-12. That was exactly the outcome that everybody expected, but it’s still nice to start the season 2-0, no matter what. Like Texas A&M and Nebraska proved last weekend, anything can happen on any given Saturday. Such is the beautiful chaos that is college football.

The Buckeyes want no part of that chaos this weekend and it’s incredibly unlikely. The last time Ohio State lost to an in-state opponent was 101 years ago in 1921, when Oberlin took down the Buckeyes 7-6.

Ohio State throttled Arkansas State last weekend

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud looked like one of the nation’s leading Heisman Trophy candidates against Arkansas State, completing 16 of 24 passing attempts for 351 yards, while tossing in four touchdowns with no interceptions. Buckeyes’ sophomore tailback TreVeyon Henderson had 10 carries for 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. In the absence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison, Jr. shined, hauling in seven catches for 184 receiving yards, while bringing in three touchdowns. Ohio State is also home to yet another one of the nation’s most outstanding receiver prospects, Emeka Egbuka. He hauled in four catches for 118 receiving yards and one touchdown catch in the blowout victory.

Toledo’s dual-threat quarterback Dequann Finn has rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns total in his first two games. However, the Ohio State Buckeyes are a massive, massive leap in competition from the Long Island University Sharks and the Umass Minutemen.

Ohio State struggled with Notre Dame for a bit in Week 1, but they pulled away in the second half to prevail 21-10.

Ohio State and Toledo will kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 PM EST. The Buckeyes are currently favored by 32.5 points, according to sportsbookwire.com.
