Later, more video was released that showed that these Ohio State fans, along with many more, eventually found their way on the field, which is also shown below:

As one can imagine, the reaction of the student population on campus appeared to be rowdy as they awaited the championship victory. Another video, this time posted on X by the Columbus Dispatch, showcases the mob of elated Buckeyes fans rushing toward Ohio State’s home stadium.

The excited group, of course, had just watched their Buckeyes hold on to their lead in the fourth quarter after Notre Dame cut the score to just eight points. Eventually, Ohio State was able to kick a go-ahead field goal in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach to solidify the Buckeyes’ first national title in a decade.

Ohio State now has the unique title of having won the very first CFP in 2014, as well as having won the first-ever 12-team playoff in 2025.

The Buckeyes were led offensively by quarterback Will Howard finished the game having completed 17 of 21 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He completed his first 12 passes of the game — a national championship game record for a quarterback. Howard also added 16 carries for 57 yards during the contest.

Running back Quinshon Judkins scored three touchdowns during the matchup — two on the ground and another in the passing game — while freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught five passes for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Smith was responsible for what ended up being one of the difference-making plays of the game. Late in the fourth quarter and in need of a first down to ice the game, Howard heaved a prayer to Smith who caught the ball deep in Notre Dame territory to set up the go-ahead field goal.
