Ohio State freshman Brice Sensabaugh out for the rest of the season with knee injury
Tough news for the Ohio State Buckeyes today right before they take on Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. After missing yesterday’s win over Michigan State with knee soreness, the school announced today that freshman Brice Sensabaugh will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
Here was that news, as reported by Jon Rothstein:
“Ohio State’s Brice Sensabaugh (knee) is OUT for the remainder of the season, per release. Averages 16.3 PPG. Buckeyes play Purdue today in the Big Ten Tournament.”
So no Sensabaugh for the surging Buckeyes. Ohio State entered the Big Ten tourney as one of its lowest-seeded teams and would need five wins in five days to win the event and lock down a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Well, OSU took care of business in the first two games and then defeated Michigan State on Friday without Sensabaugh to advance.
Now, they’ll need to win two more games without their leading scorer in order to win the title and make the NCAA Tournament.

The team released the following update on Sensabaugh:
“An initial evaluation has determined that Ohio State freshman Brice Sensabaugh will continue to be evaluated and will not play anymore this season.”
They also added comments from head coach Chris Holtmann on the matter:
“Brice has had an outstanding freshman season and played very well down the stretch. I know how badly he wanted to play and we are disappointed for him. We are proud of him and his continued development as a player and I know he’s looking forward to supporting his teammates again today.”
