Ohio State long snapper Max Lomonico withdraws from NCAA Transfer Portal

Ohio State long snapper Max Lomonico officially withdrew his name from the transfer portal on Monday morning, On3 has learned. He originally entered about a week ago.

Lomonico doesn’t have much for a backstory, as he wasn’t a recruit of any merit, nor did he even earn a scholarship. Rather, he’s been a walk-on long snapper for the last three years and appeared to have different plans for year four before ultimately deciding to return to Columbus for at least another season.

Prior to his time with the Buckeyes, Lomonico attended Pickerington Central High School in hometown Pickerington, Ohio, where he excelled as a long snapper and as a wide receiver. His finest moment at any level of football likely came back during his Pickerington Central days, when he caught this 35-yard touchdown pass after a wildly impressive sack evasion by his quarterback. Take a look:

What a play! That’s some toughness by Crenshaw to break free of several defenders before whipping the ball way down to Lomonico, who caps off the score. In case Ohio State ever needs to try a trick play, they know they have a serious emergency receiving threat in their long snapper.
