Jack Sawyer was essential to Ohio State Buckeyes reaching the top of the college football world once again, and the star defender is receiving his flowers as the dust settles on the 2024 campaign.

He was one of the first players to lift the trophy after the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, and Ohio State’s social media team had the perfect caption for the moment that’ll live on forever. They harkened back to the famous scene in The Lion King, where Simba was held for all to see as Circle of Life blared. Check out the post below.

It doesn’t get smoother than that. While the Buckeyes were on fire on the field, their social media team was blazing as well. They also shared a tremendous edit of Brutus Buckeye with Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, scratching an itch for all Buckeyes fans who also dabble in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Perfectly balanced, as all things should be,” the caption read, with Brutus holding the national title trophy and an Infinity Gauntlet, with the incredible touch of the logos of each team Ohio State beat on the way cosplaying as Infinity Stones. You don’t have to be a comic book lover to recognize that’s cool.

Regardless, Ohio State and college football fans alike were waiting for Jack Sawyer and the Buckeyes to wake up and showcase their talent, and that’s exactly what they did in the CFP. It wasn’t always guaranteed, and some thought it wasn’t possible when they fell to Oregon in Eugene, narrowly escaped against foes like Nebraska, and of course, after suffering a demoralizing defeat to the Wolverines during the final week of the regular season.

In the end, all that mattered was what they did in the CFP. A dismantling of Tennessee. Revenge against the aforementioned Ducks at the Rose Bowl. Holding serve and sending the SEC home by defeating Texas. And finally, their win over Notre Dame, where they did just enough to avoid a colossal collapse.

Ohio State got the job done, and Ryan Day deserves to be commended for not allowing a season brimming with potential to fall apart. He finally broke through the glass ceiling, and has joined the likes of other coaches who can claim to be a national championship-winning leader. That’s no small feat, after coming up short over the past couple of seasons.
