Ohio State offers 3-star RB Jamarion Wilcox

Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding three-star running back Jamarion Wilcox received an offer from Ohio State on Thursday. He announced the news over social media.

Wilcox is the No. 808 overall prospect and No. 59 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 79 player in Georgia.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound tailback has received 32 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Kentucky is leading for his commitment at 45.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

The Buckeyes have no running back commits in their 2023 recruiting class after Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star running back Mark Fletcher backed off his pledge on Nov. 16. Right now, Ohio State’s class is No. 4 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten.

Wilcox is having a great senior season

Through 11 games, Wilcox has run for 2,059 yards and 29 touchdowns on 229 carries. He received high praise from On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Oct. 30 following a loss to Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes.

“Wilcox is a patient runner,” Johnson wrote. “He doesn’t force the action he picks his spots and gets what he can. Sometimes, that patience allows him to find a hole and explode for a big game. He rarely gets stopped for a negative play.

“Every time he touches the ball, Wilcox gains positive ground. He is powerfully built and strong. Arm tackles aren’t enough to bring down Wilcox when he gets going.”

Wilcox has an On3 NIL Valuation of $14.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
