Devin Brown
Quarterback Devin Brown is a big riser in the On300.

Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon quarterback Devin Brown has been one of USC‘s most important commitments for over a year.

But ever since Clay Helton‘s firing last month, programs from across the country have been working to flip the No. 63 overall recruit in the 2022 On300 rankings.

Now the Trojans will have to battle one of the top programs in the country to keep Devin Brown’s commitment after Ohio State offered the four-star quarterback on Tuesday.

Ohio State does not have a QB recruit

Ohio State has 14 recruits committed in the class of 2022 — none are quarterbacks.

Devin Brown is only the fifth offer they have extended to a quarterback in this cycle. The four others — Drew Allar, Steve Angeli, Maalik Murphy and Gunner Stockton — are also committed.

The Buckeyes did have the No. 1 overall quarterback recruit in the country in Quinn Ewers, but Ewers reclassified to the 2021 class and enrolled at Ohio State in August.

Brown is not the first 2022 quarterback Ohio State has tried to flip. The Buckeyes have tried to flip Allar, but he has been firm in his pledge to Penn State.

UCLA and Ole Miss have been heavily recruiting Devin Brown

After Helton was fired, two programs very familiar with USC offered Devin Brown.

Cross-town rival UCLA and Ole Miss, coached by former Trojans head coach Lane Kiffin, offered Brown on Sept. 15. Cal also offered Brown later in September.

Since their offers, both UCLA and Ole Miss have been recruiting Brown hard.

Ole Miss offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby visited practice at Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon in September soon after the Rebels offered. Brown also visited Oxford, Miss., this past weekend to watch Ole Miss take on Arkansas.

The week before, Devin Brown was back in SoCal to watch the Bruins take on Arizona State.
