The Ohio State Buckeyes are once again on top of the college football world, staking their claim and rising above the competition for the first time since the 2014 season.

With that, the celebration is on, especially when it comes to social media. Ohio State Athletics shared a tremendous edit of Brutus Buckeye with Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, scratching an itch for all Buckeyes fans who also dabble in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out below, in all of its glory.

“Perfectly balanced, as all things should be,” the caption read, with Brutus holding the national title trophy and an Infinity Gauntlet, with the incredible touch of the logos of each team Ohio State beat on the way cosplaying as Infinity Stones. You don’t have to be a comic book lover to recognize that’s cool.

Regardless, Ohio State and college football fans alike were waiting for the Buckeyes to wake up and showcase their talent, and that’s exactly what they did in the CFP. It wasn’t always guaranteed, and some thought it wasn’t possible when they fell to Oregon in Eugene, narrowly escaped against foes like Nebraska, and of course, after suffering a demoralizing defeat to the Wolverines during the final week of the regular season.

In the end, all that mattered was what they did in the CFP. A dismantling of Tennessee. Revenge against the aforementioned Ducks at the Rose Bowl. Holding serve and sending the SEC home by defeating Texas. And finally, their win over Notre Dame, where they did just enough to avoid a colossal collapse. That’s their Infinity Gauntlet.

Ohio State got the job done, and Ryan Day deserves to be commended for not allowing a season brimming with potential to fall apart. He finally broke through the glass ceiling, and has joined the likes of other coaches who can claim to be a national championship-winning leader. That’s no small feat, after coming up short over the past couple of seasons.

Thanos would be jealous of the way Ohio State dominated throughout the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff, and the Buckeyes will look to carry that momentum into the 2025 campaign. Their team might look a little different, but as long as Jeremiah Smith is catching passes in Columbus, they’ll be just fine, and ready to rock when the time comes.
