Ohio State Buckeyes suspend quarterback following arrest for OVI
Ohio State has suspended backup quarterback Jack Miller III after he was arrested Friday morning and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, according to a tweet posted by Bill Landis of The Athletic.
“Ohio State QB Jack Miller has been suspended from the team after he was arrested by Ohio State Highway Patrol officers Friday morning and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired,” Landis’ post said. “Miller was released from custody and issued a summons to appear in court for the OVI.”
A redshirt freshman out of Scottsdale, Arizona, Miller has appeared in four games for the Buckeyes in 2021, completing 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Chaparral High School and committed to Ohio State in July 2018.
Former Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III charged in fatal car crash
As Ohio State quarterback Jack Miller III was driving while impaired, earlier this week former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal car crash and ultimately charged with DUI and reckless driving causing death.
According to law enforcement, the two-car accident happened Tuesday morning at 3:39 a.m. PT. The initial investigation shows Ruggs was driving a Chevrolet Corvette and hit the back of a Toyota Rav4. Officers found the Toyota on fire with a deceased victim inside.

Ruggs’ attorney issued a statement regarding his client following the crash.
“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered,” said Ruggs’ attorney, David Chesnoff.
Not long after the incident, the Raiders made the decision to release Ruggs.
ESPN reports that Ruggs and one passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. However, one woman and her dog died inside the other vehicle. Probation is not an option for a conviction of DUI causing death in Nevada. The charge carries a possible sentence between two and 20 years in prison. The possible sentence for reckless driving is between one and six years in prison, with probation possible.
Ruggs had 24 receptions for 469 yards and two touchdowns this season for Las Vegas. He started all seven games the Raiders had played this year and lead the team in receiving yards.
The Alabama native was a first-round pick out of Alabama in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his three years playing for legendary coach Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, Ruggs posted 98 receptions for 1,716 yards and 25 total touchdowns. As a senior, he averaged nearly 19 yards per reception.
Alabama won the national championship in 2017, Ruggs’ freshman year.
