Ohio State running back Miyan Williams working with trainers after apparent injury
Ohio State running back Miyan Williams was seen visibly shaken up on the sideline after a series of blocks left him with an apparent injury. Williams had only carried the ball four times for 20 yards when he was seen dealing with some sort of injury, but had been a large part of Ohio State’s final drive of the half.

Williams was making a huge impact on the field for Ohio State prior to having to leave the game, including a huge pass block for CJ Stroud on the drive. Williams’ power makes him a huge part of pass protection when needed, as he picked up a delayed pass rush on back-to-back plays from the middle linebacker.
Immediately afterwards, Williams was seen on the sideline in pain by the broadcast — and he would work with the team’s trainers until the end of the half. As of the beginning of halftime, there was no update provided on exactly what injury he sustained.
Luckily for Ohio State and Williams, the injury didn’t keep him for any time in the second half as he opened the third quarter with a big run that he nearly broke wide open before stepping out of bounds. Williams continued to be a contributor for the offense throughout the half, including a monster performance on the Buckeyes’ final scoring drive of the game — a 14-play, 95-yard drive that saw him carry the bulk of the load.
Ohio State ultimately defeated Notre Dame in the marquee season-opener game, 21-10.
Teammate and quarterback CJ Stroud was asked after the game how it felt to see his team punch the ball into the end zone on their final scoring drive of the game behind Williams.

“It was just great to see, all the work we put in, in the weight room … Coach Day preaching on us that we gotta run the ball. To be able to do it in those clutch moments, it’s huge.
“We’re just battle tested. God put us through a lot last season but it was on purpose. God puts everybody through something for a reason. We were tough enough to get through it last season, so that’s why we learned from it this year.”
The Buckeyes quarterback then turned his attention to how their critics helped focus him and his teammates during the offseason, using them for inspiration as they entered the locker room at halftime trailing.
“I just told them to remember. Remember how everybody counted us out last season, they said we weren’t tough, they said we couldn’t run the ball, they said we could only throw it — they said a lot of things. We didn’t want to prove nobody wrong, we wanted to prove us right so I feel we did that tonight.”
