To the victors go the spoils, and there were plenty to go around for Ohio State following a thorough dismantling of Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

The Buckeyes jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, then survived a temporary lull to blast the Volunteers 42-17.

Then the social media team took its turn to get some licks in.

Ohio State entered the contest as a 6.5-point favorite, a relatively narrow margin despite playing at home in the Horseshoe in the contest. That line seemed like a joke by game’s end, so the Buckeyes dunking on the Volunteers wasn’t all that surprising.

Pretty much everything went right for Ohio State in the contest.

Quarterback Will Howard was lights out early on, dishing some absolute dimes to a stud receiving corps to take the early lead. Freshman standout Jeremiah Smith was the biggest beneficiary, catching six passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Howard finished the day 24-of-29 passing for 311 yards and two touchdowns and essentially didn’t have to play in the fourth quarter.

The Buckeyes used a pair of backup quarterbacks to take the win home, beating the Volunteers in just about every way possible.

Running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins both had big days, rushing for 80 yards and 34 yards, respectively, each with two touchdown carries.

The total yardage finished 473-256 in favor of Ohio State.

With the win, Ohio State advances to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, set to take on No. 1 overall seed Oregon.
