The incoming Ohio State defense just got even stronger.
Duncanville (Texas) four-star EDGE Omari Abor has committed to the Buckeyes, making the announcement Sunday at the All-American Bowl.
Ohio State didn’t move up in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking, staying at No. 4, but see its score significantly improve from 93.040 to 93.388.
A spot in the top three is pretty much out of reach for the Buckeyes, but Abor’s commitment has all but locked up the No. 4 spot for the Buckeyes. They lead No. 5 Texas by over a point.
Omari Abor is the No. 68 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 EDGE in the class and the No. 14 player from the state of Texas.
He joins the Buckeyes recruiting class that is headlined by defensive playmakers. Five of the top six recruits in the class play on the defensive side of the ball, including the program’s two five-star signees in Pickerington (Ohio) Pickerington Central five-star athlete Sonny Styles and Dayton (Ohio) Archbishop Alter five-star linebacker C.J. Hicks.
Omari Abor told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson was a main reason for his recruitment.

“Knowing that he’s going to be there for two or three more years gave me hope,” Abor said. “Just building that relationship and knowing the defensive scheme that they run. They just let their defensive ends play.”
The Buckeyes were the overwhelming favorite to land Omari Abor, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. RPM gave Ohio State a 95.5% chance of landing Abor.
RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
