Ohio State to visit White House after winning 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship

The 2025 College Football Playoff National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes will officially be honored by President Donald Trump during a White House visit on April 14, CBS News announced Friday afternoon.
The Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame, 34-23, in the CFP National Championship Game on Jan. 20 from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Nearly four months later, Ohio State will get the royal treatment.
An avid sports fan and regular golfer, Trump didn’t attend the championship game because it was played on Inauguration Day. Nevertheless, the 45th and 47th president of the United States sent a pre-recorded message that aired during halftime of the game.
“This has been a historic and exciting day,” Trump said in the video, referencing his swearing-in as the 47th president of the United States, according to CBS News. “In recent years, our people have suffered greatly but starting now we’re going to bring America back and make it safer, richer, prouder than ever before.”
Ohio State will be the second sports champion to visit the White House since Trump’s inauguration after the Florida Panthers, the 2024 Stanley Cup winners, visited in February. April is a big month for White House visits with the NFL’s Super Bowl LIX champion Philadelphia Eagles scheduled to visit two weeks after the Buckeyes.

White House confirms Philadelphia Eagles will visit with President, announces date
The White House has confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will visit President Donald Trump to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. On March 10, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Eagles are set to visit the White House on April 28.
“April 28, I can confirm the Philadelphia Eagles will be here at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory,” Leavitt said. “I know there was a lot of fake news about an invitation that wasn’t sent or was sent. We want to correct the record.”
On Monday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the White House formally extended an invitation to the Eagles to visit after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. “We sent the invite, and they enthusiastically accepted,” a White House official told The Inquirer. “We are working with them to determine a date and logistics.”
The Eagles’ celebration in Washington will mark the end of a wild ride for a team that played well all season long. One of the big reasons for the team’s success is the play of running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. The defense also played well, as defensive lineman Jalen Carter and linebacker Zack Baun were named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro Team.
