On3 5-Star Countdown: No. 14, CB Jermaine Mathews

On3 has released its final recruiting ranking for the 2023 class after the completion of the high school football season and all-star competitions. Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods cornerback and Ohio State signee Jermaine Mathews ranks No. 14 overall and five-stars in the 2023 On300.

The latest edition of On3’s 2023 rankings features 32 five-star players, up from 26 in the previous update in November. Of those 32 prospects, 30 are signed to college programs, with two still yet to make their decisions official.

This final update comes after the end of the high school playoffs and postseason All-American games, where top prospects across the country faced off in a week of practices and ended with nationally televised games.

“Athletic, coordinated cornerback with a well-rounded skill set in coverage. Measured 5-foot-11.5 and around 175 pounds with a 32-inch arm prior to his senior season. A riser on the college camp circuit, earning offers with strong showings. Ran multiple 40-yard dashes in the 4.4 range. Smooth and technical in coverage with the ability to quickly read wide receivers and flip his hips accordingly. Uses his length to stay attached. Instinctive and mirrors effectively. Looks to have good ball skills. Came down with four interceptions and caused three forced fumbles as a junior. Also plays basketball.”
