CJ Stroud praises growth of Cade Stover at tight end
Ohio State Heisman candidate quarterback CJ Stroud has a plethora of targets at his disposal in the Buckeyes’ passing game. However, one of his targets might be getting a little overlooked given all the excitement surrounding Ohio state’s top-end talent at wide receiver. During a recent interview, Stroud made sure he took some time to praise his tight end Cade Stover and the growth he’s seen from him this season.
“Yeah, Cade is definitely a Swiss army knife. He can run, block; he can do really anything,” said Stroud. “So it’s just amazing to see his work pay off. He’s one of the first people who took me under his wing when I first got to school. He’s a better person than he’s a football player.”
“I’m really proud of him. At the end of the day, we can always be better, and I think Cade is going to continue to be great. I’m super excited, super happy for him.”

The six-foot-four senior tight end from Mansfield, OH, is the Buckeyes’ third-leading receiver in receptions and yards behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. On the season, Stover has 12 catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Stover has played a considerable role in the Buckeyes’ passing game, with wide receivers Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba missing time early in the season due to injuries. Stovers’ improvement on the field adds another wrinkle to an already lethal offense. An offense that will be nearly impossible for opponents to start, especially when operating at 100 percent.

Stroud credits offensive line for rushing attack, offensive success
Ohio State opened Big Ten play in impressive fashion, taking care of business against Wisconsin at home. Everybody on the Buckeyes’ offense ate at one point or another, with quarterback CJ Stroud throwing for 281 yards and five touchdowns. However, it was the run game that was really impressive, going for over 250 yards.
After the game, Stroud talked about running back TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams, who both went over 100 yards. He said they have been doing a solid job but was quick to dish out credit elsewhere. Stroud talked about how the offensive line are the most important players on the roster and key to Ohio State’s success.
“Both of them have been great,” Stroud said. “Not only just running the ball but pass protection as well. So, they’ve spent a lot of time on that. At the same time, they’re towing the rocking really well but it all starts up front. I always preach to my o-linemen ‘y’all are the best players on this team. We don’t move if y’all don’t move.’ or ‘we aren’t great if y’all aren’t great.’ I think they take that to heart every week.”
