Report: Ohio State to wear black, scarlet alternative uniforms vs Wisconsin, Iowa in 2022
The color rush has come back to Columbus, according to reports. The ever-popular all-black and all-scarlet uniforms are making a comeback after three seasons. Ohio State will wear the all-black uniforms against No. 18 Wisconsin on Sept. 24 and its all-scarlet one three weeks later on Oct. 22 against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The uniforms will feature a black layout with red numbers and lettering on the jerseys. The shoulder and pant stripes are red and the Ohio State logo lays dormant on the base of the collar. The helmet will also be black with a red stripe going down the middle. The scarlet ones will have the red concept with white numbering, and are paired with the tradition silver Buckeye helmet
Ohio State hasn’t donned its all-black alternate uniforms since a 34-10 win over Michigan State in 2019. They don’t bust these out often, as they’ve only played three games wearing the uniform concept, though they are undefeated when they suit up in all-black.
Likewise, the Buckeyes debuted the all-scarlet uniforms during last year’s 33-24 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions – and will look to continue their undefeated dominance in alternative uniforms (and in general, really).
CJ Stroud provides humble reaction to becoming Ohio State team captain
Ohio State recently named its six team captains for the 2022 season, and one of them was none other than quarterback CJ Stroud who recently talked about what being a caption means to him and how the role of Assistant AD for Football Sports Performance Mickey Marotti has made an impact on him.

“For me it’s a blessing from God of course and I think it pays testament to who we are as a team and how coach Mick kind of trained us to be tough. And he’s definitely done that in my life not just in football but outside of football as well, he definitely makes you men, first for me it’s God, but men of character, coach Mick kind of brings that into it,” Stroud said.
Stroud also spoke on how this offseason played a part in him being named captain, and how he doesn’t take the title of captain at Ohio State lightly.
“And then we pushed each other this offseason with accountability and things of that sort, so I definitely feel like I was at the front forward of that, so it’s super amazing just to be a part of that of that legacy with so many captains not only do good at Ohio State but go to the NFL and do well, so I’m super blessed to be in my position,” Stroud said.
