Despite the worst loss of his tenure at Ohio State, AD Ross Bjork still fully support of Ryan Day.

Bjork commented on Day’s status as the Buckeyes’ head coach with The Columbus Dispatch on Sunday.

“Our full focus right now is on the College Football Playoff and making a strong run,” said Bjork. “We have a ton to play for. We have a great team made up of talented players and great young men. Coach Day does a great job leading our program. He’s our coach.”

“There’s going to be plenty of time to dissect what happened in the rivalry game the last couple years. But right now, we have to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s focus on the values of the program, focus on why we lead the young men, focus on the mission and the playoff,” Bjork said.

This comes the day after No. 2 Ohio State lost 13-10 in The Game against Michigan in The Shoe. It’s the fourth consecutive loss in the rivalry for the Buckeyes while it also then kept them out of the Big Ten Championship, which also affects their standing within the field for the College Football Playoff. That’s despite this being highlighted as the most important matchup of the season for the program, even in some cases over the conference championship or playoff games. That’s also despite being a three-score favorite on their own home field with their rival being down two of their best players, being led by their first-year head coach in his first true game in this series, and the maize & blue just being bowl eligible with this as their seventh win of the season.

That has now brought Day’s future into question at Ohio State. Although being 66-10 (.868) as a head coach there, this was one that he had to have. Since they didn’t get it, it’s now five years since they last won over That Team Up North. That’s as unacceptable in that state as the titles, both conference and nationally, that they may have cost themselves with these losses to the Wolverines.

Still, Bjork isn’t worried about that right now. He’s focusing on what Day and the Buckeyes can do from wherever they now find themselves in the CFP.

“We’re disappointed (with Saturday’s loss), but he’s our coach,” said Bjork. “I’m focused on supporting our players and our coaches and continuing to get to know our fan base and our donor base and leading through this disappointing time.”

Let’s go make a run in the playoff. That’s all I’m going to say,” said Bjork. “Let’s go make a run in the playoff. That’s what we’ve got to do.”
