Ryan Day has continually reeled in some of the top quarterbacks in the nation for Ohio State the past few seasons. The depth of the Buckeyes’ quarterback room is still among the best in college football, even with the departure of Quinn Ewers. C.J. Stroud is not only a returning Heisman Trophy finalist, but many mock drafts are projecting him to be selected in the top 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft and deservedly so. In a recent press conference, Day said even though his current quarterback room is stacked, he won’t shy away from continuing to bring in the nation’s top talent at the position.

“We try to go recruit the best players in the country every year. And the goal is if you can make it here, you can anywhere. So the guys who are highly competitive, jump in with two feet,” the Ohio State head man said.

Day also has two other top-notch quarterbacks behind Stroud on his current roster. Devin Brown made some really nice throws in the Buckeyes spring game recently and he’s battling it out with Kyle McCord for the Buckeyes’ backup-signal-caller position this season behind Stroud. In the Buckeyes’ spring game, McCord completed 14-of-20 passes for 129 passing yards, while tossing in a touchdown and Brown completed 11-of-24 passes for 141 passing yards, while tossing in a touchdown.

Just a freshman, Brown attended the same high school as Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart, Corner Canyon (Utah). According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 class, Brown was rated as the No. 5 quarterback prospect in America. In the 2021 class, McCord was rated as the No. 4 quarterback prospect in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He was a high school teammate of Marvin Harrison, Jr. at St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.), who has an incredibly bright future ahead of him, too.

It’s simply amazing the quarterback talent Day has stocked in Columbus

In the transfer portal and NIL era, it is simply amazing how much quarterback talent Day has been able to stockpile on his roster. He’s firmly established himself as one of the best quarterback coaches in the country and players across the country continue to take notice.

Day just recently reeled Dylan Raiola, the son of former Husker great Dominic Raiola. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2024 class, he’s currently rated as the top quarterback in that class and the top signal-caller, as well. Raiola was coached by former Detroit Lions star Jon Kitna at Burleson High School (Burleson, Texas) for the past two seasons. Raiola has drawn early comparisons to Patrick Mahomes II due to his uncanny ability to deliver the football from a wide variety of arm angles.

Needless to say, Ohio State will always have an elite signal-caller under center as long as Ryan Day is the head man in Columbus–there is no doubt about that.
