Ryan Day after Ohio State's 44-31 victory over Penn State: 'This is a great win'
With a little less than nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Penn State had a lead over Ohio State. The vibes were immaculate, and the Nittany Lions fans were going insane. Then, the Buckeyes decided to show their strength.
A three-play, 75-yard touchdowns drive — capped by a 41-yard touchdown run by TreVeyon Henderson — gave the Buckeyes a lead, and they never looked back. The defense, headlined by JT Tuimoloau, stifled the Nittany Lions offense, and Ryan Day and company escaped Happy Valley with a victory.

“For whatever it is, when we play Penn State, it’s been that way. We talked about how you have to withstand the surge early. We all wish we could have done somethings early on better on offense. Defense played well, created some turnovers. And then we just talked about getting the game to the fourth quarter and winning,” stated Day, speaking to FOX’s Jenny Taft after the win. “Really proud of the way the guys played in the fourth quarter. They just played really hard and finished out the game.
“This is a great win and I thought our guys hung tough.”
Additionally, Day was more than complimentary regarding Tiimoloau, who had himself a breakout game with six tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, a touchdowns, forced fumble and fumble recovery — video game numbers.
“He really stepped up,” stated Day. “You’re seeing what he’s capable of now. Great to see — that’s a coming out party for him.
“Well-deserved, happy for him. He’s been working really hard at this and so great to see all his hard work pay off.”
Meanwhile, at quarterback, CJ Stroud outplayed Sean Clifford, passing for 354 yards and a touchdown, while the latter threw three interceptions. In the end, Stroud made the perfect passes to seal up a victory, while Clifford couldn’t capture the victory over the Buckeyes he wanted so badly.

Alas, the bad news for Ohio State star running back Miyan Williams missed most of the game with an injury suffered in the first quarter.
After Williams left the field with a possible upper-body injury after scoring a touchdown to begin the game, he was visibly frustrated after returning to the sidelines later in the game. Now, the college football world will await word on the extent of his injury from Day.
Alas, the aforementioned Henderson took over the lion-share of carries, rushing the football 16 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He was his best when they needed him most, as Henderson’s immense talent was on display in full force.
Now, Ohio State will turn their attention to their final three games, while Penn State will look to rebound after a devastating loss once again. Everything the Buckeyes want is in front of them, and they can go as far as they want playing like they did on Saturday.
