Ryan Day blunt about his future with Ohio State
In the wake of Saturday’s loss to Michigan, there has been ample talk around the Ohio State program about the status of coach Ryan Day‘s job.
Day has lost four straight games against the rival Wolverines, something that has prevented the program for reaching the heights it strives for — though it should be noted the Buckeyes remain in position to earn a College Football Playoff berth in the 12-team era.
But when asked if he expects to be Ohio State’s coach in 2025, Ryan Day left no doubt.
“Yes,” he said, according to Chase Brown of 11Warriors.
That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Even Day’s own athletics director has backed him in recent days, with Ross Bjork weighing in on the topic following Saturday’s loss.
“Our full focus right now is on the College Football Playoff and making a strong run,” said Bjork. “We have a ton to play for. We have a great team made up of talented players and great young men. Coach Day does a great job leading our program. He’s our coach.
“There’s going to be plenty of time to dissect what happened in the rivalry game the last couple years. But right now, we have to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s focus on the values of the program, focus on why we lead the young men, focus on the mission and the playoff.”

Ryan Day, of course, is currently 66-10 overall as a head coach. However, it’s those results against Michigan of late that have led to the doubt.
Still, it doesn’t appear Day is in any immediate danger.
“We’re disappointed (with Saturday’s loss), but he’s our coach,” said Bjork. “I’m focused on supporting our players and our coaches and continuing to get to know our fan base and our donor base and leading through this disappointing time.”
“Let’s go make a run in the playoff. That’s all I’m going to say,” said Bjork. “Let’s go make a run in the playoff. That’s what we’ve got to do.”
