LOOK: Ryan Day changes Twitter profile picture in tribute of Dwayne Haskins

Ryan Day was enamored with Dwayne Haskins — the football player, and the person he was. On the day it was announced Haskins tragically passed away, Day released a heartfelt statement, as well as changing his profile picture on Twitter in tribute of the former Ohio State star quarterback.

In addition to the profile picture tribute to Haskins, Day wrote a loving statement about the former Ohio State star quarterback.

“The loss of Dwayne is beyond tragic and extremely difficult to process,” tweeted Day. “For those who knew him closely, he was much more than a great football player. He had a giant heart, old soul and an infectious smile. The Ohio State community and our entire football program are heartbroken.”

While Haskins was at Ohio State, perhaps no coach was more important to him than Day. The offensive guru helped mold the young quarterback into the star he would become, leading Haskins as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

As you can see, the loss of Dwayne Haskins has hurt Ryan Day deeply. The impact Haskins made on Ohio State was tremendous, and the sting won’t go away anytime soon. Still, his memory will be honored by Day, as well as all the others he touched during his football career.

Dwayne Haskins captured the hearts of Ohio State fans throughout his time in Columbus. The star quarterback led the Buckeyes to tremendous success, including capping his collegiate career with a memorable victory in the Rose Bowl.

Afterwards, Haskins was drafted by the Washington Redskins with the No. 15 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Highland Park, New Jersey native had his moments with the franchise, but the team went in a different direction following the 2020 season.

Since, Haskins had been a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Tomlin was impressed with the young man. Haskins was ready to battle Mitchell Trubisky, Mason Rudolph and a possible rookie quarterback for the starting job. His career was turning around, and Haskins seemed more motivated than ever to turn his doubters into supporters.

After the tragic news befell the football world, many have lent their condolences to the Haskins family, honoring his legacy. From Steelers coach Mike Tomlin to Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera, to players like star quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes, its evident Haskins touched the lives of many.

The heartbreak will linger, and Dwayne Haskins won’t be forgotten by football fans around the world. The collective football world is sending prayers to his family.
