A little less than two weeks ago, Ohio State unveiled some one-off threads to be worn in the Peach Bowl against Georgia in the nightcap College Football Playoff semifinal. On Monday, as the Buckeyes got to Atlanta, head coach Ryan Day explained why they’ve got the unique threads.

He said they don’t want to depart too far from the traditional look that Ohio State wears — scarlet and grey will always win the day for the Buckeyes — while giving a bit of a meaningful twist.

“We try to honor the traditions and try to do the best we can in that area and make sure that we’re doing a great job. And that’s been something that we’ve done here in the past and our guys like it, we’ve got good feedback on that,” Day said. “So we decided to do that again this year.”

The Buckeyes were lucky enough to backdoor their way into their upcoming College Football Playoff matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs. The two teams will be squaring off in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl slated to be played on December 31st at 8:00 PM EST.

The game will be played in the Atlanta Falcons sparkling new facility (Mercedes-Benz Stadium). On Thursday afternoon, the Buckeyes revealed their uniforms for their upcoming showdown with Georgia, and they are pretty sharp.

Ohio State will face a very steep challenge in the game, because they’ll be without two of their biggest superstars. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has opted out of the bowl game because he’s been battling injuries for much of the 2022 season. He’s preparing to be a top selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Then, Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson will not play in the bowl game, either. He had been playing with a fracture and a torn ligament in his foot and had surgery.
