Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day is ramping up for the Buckeyes spring game, which is set to take place on Saturday. Ahead of the spring game, Day provided some injury updates on a handful of players that have sat out throughout the spring so far.

“Yeah we expect Lathan [Ransom] and Josh [Fryar] to be back this summer and ready to roll,” Day said. “Marcus [Crowley] is still, we haven’t really gotten into the details of that. I’ve gotta check with Marcus and figure out where we’re at with that. But that’ll be a little bit more of a long term deal. So we’ll probably get more information out to you on that next time I get up here.”

Ransom, a third-year safety for Ohio State, played in 12 games last season with 38 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, five passes defended, and one forced fumble. Fryar is also a third-year player for the Buckeyes on the offensive line. Crowley is set to enter his fourth season at Ohio State. The backup running back has rushed 51 times for 354 yards and a touchdown in his three-year career, including 20 attempts for 103 yards last season.

Ohio State went 11-2 last season and 8-1 in the Big Ten, defeating Utah in a high-scoring shootout in the Rose Bowl to end the year. The Buckeyes have a stiff test awaiting in Week 1 with a home date against Notre Dame on Sept. 3.

Day has a message for Ohio State fans ahead of the spring game on Saturday

In addition to providing the personnel updates ahead of Ohio State’s spring game, Day also shared a message with fans of the Buckeyes. Day wants Ohio State’s spring game to be filled in the stands, and he encouraged fans from all over to come out and take in the action on Saturday.

“Hey Buckeye nation, looking forward to our spring game on Saturday. Hope to see a great crowd there,” Day said. “We’re very, very excited about this game, opportunity to see the 2022 Buckeyes in action. Looks like the weather is supposed to be really good. We got a bunch of people in town, recruits, former players. There will be a fan fest, we are going to recognize some of the former players during the game and going to have a really great halftime performance from our band.

“I’m really looking forward to have a great turnout and having a lot of fun in the Shoe. This is a great opportunity to get your family here and be in the Shoe and be around this team.”
