C.J. Stroud had one of the games of his life as Ohio State came up just short against Georgia.

Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day raved about his quarterback’s play and that could suit the signal caller well when it comes to the NFL. Stroud’s team fell 42-41 to the eventual back-to-back national champions.

But that did not take away from Stroud’s or the team’s performance in Day’s mind.

“I mean, I can tell you, this guy right here,” Day said about Stroud in response to why the offense was effective against Georgia. “They’re all good plays when you have good players and you know, we worked hard and I’ll say this … (I’m not saying this) because he’s right here but the work that was put in over the last month by C.J. and just input into the game plan, get in front of the team, the leadership, you know, all of our guys.

“And I thought the receivers, the whole O-line was unbelievable this week, just the way that they worked. And everybody had some input on this game plan … We did a study. We had 1,500 reps over the last month. 1,500 reps going into this game. 1,500 reps in bowl practice to get ready for this game plan and I thought our guys executed really well at times. Again, there were some calls that I absolutely wish I had back. But in the end, game plans are only good by the guys who put it on the field.”

Stroud finished the game 23-of-34 passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 34 rushing yards.

Stroud nearly pulled it off and got to his first national title game. That type of performance led to praise from Georgia head coach Kirby Smart.

“I’ll open with a lot of respect for Ohio State, Coach Day and his program,” Smart said. “I saw C.J. [Stroud] out there, and my heart goes out to those guys because they played well enough to win the game, and they got a really good football team. So do we. We didn’t play our best football game. A lot of that had to do with Ohio State.”

Now, Stroud switches his focus to the NFL Draft where he could very well go in the first round come April. Along with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Kentucky’s Will Levis, Stroud is one of the highest ranked quarterback prospects.
