Ryan Day reveals message to Ohio State players ahead of College Football Playoff semifinal vs. Texas
The Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns are set to square off on Friday night in the CFP Semifinal. As the anticipation leading up to the game builds, both coaches took some time to speak with reporters a few hours before it. ESPN’s Holly Rowe spoke with Ryan Day on the field before warmups.
Does Day have any sport of special message leading up to one of the biggest games of his career?
“It’s not about that. It’s about the work you put in and the preparation. And everything like that. You can’t just say one thing before a game and think you’re gonna turn a team on. It takes, you know, 48 hours to get your body, your mind, your soul ready to go play in a game like this. The intensity will be at an all-time high and our guys are excited about it,” Day explained.
He knows the opposing quarterback on Friday night very well, Quinn Ewers. He started out his career with the Buckeyes, before moving on to Texas. What can Day and their coaching staff do to affect him in the game?

“You know, first off, when you talk about disrupting a quarterback. It’s a lot that comes with it. Is it just one thing? You know, certainly, d-line. The rush has to do their part. The coverage has to do their part. And he’s a very, very good quarterback. So, we know we’ve got a great challenge tonight. But we’re excited about it. We know it’s gonna go four quarters. We want to start fast, but then finish strong,” Day noted.
Ohio State and Texas are set to kick off on Friday night at 7:45 EST. The CFP Semifinal will be played in the Cotton Bowl in AT&T Stadium (Home of the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas, Texas).
