Ryan Day reveals message to team now that Ohio State is back in the CFP discussion

Ohio State came into this weekend without a game to play and in need of some upsets. Well, late Friday night in Pac-12 territory, the Buckeyes got their wish as USC fell to Utah again, with the Utes winning the conference while USC bowed out of the College Football Playoff race with their second loss. That means Ohio State is back in the mix for a playoff spot, and is likely to get it with the Trojans out of the picture.
OSU head coach Ryan Day joined the ESPN College GameDay crew Saturday morning to discuss his team’s rise back into the projected CFP field, and Kirk Herbstreit asked what the message to his team is following the USC loss. Here was Day’s answer:
“So, you know, I shared with the team — Last year, Georgia lost in the SEC Championship game, came back and won the whole thing. So there have been things that have happened in the past and teams have been able to rally. We spend our time focusing on the things that we didn’t do well. But by the end of the week, we’re forward. And now, we’re really looking forward.”

Ryan Day also explained that his team went right back to work after the Michigan embarrassment.
“We went through the film, and it wasn’t something you just get over in a day or two, you know. It took a chunk out of us. But quickly, we went right back to work. We practiced on Wednesday, practiced on Thursday, and we’re looking forward. And we felt like it’s out of our control right now, and if we’re given an opportunity, that we can be really dangerous in this game.”
So the Buckeyes stayed ready and now may be able to sneak into the playoff despite that ugly loss to end the regular season.
