Saturday marks Ohio State‘s spring game, and head coach Ryan Day wants his fans ready and pumped up to watch their Buckeyes showcase what they’ve been working on during the first stage of offseason training.

“Hey Buckeye nation, looking forward to our spring game on Saturday. Hope to see a great crowd there,” Day said. “We’re very, very excited about this game, opportunity to see the 2022 Buckeyes in action. Looks like the weather is supposed to be really good. We got a bunch of people in town, recruits, former players. There will be a fan fest, we are going to recognize some of the former players during the game and going to have a really great halftime performance from our band.”

Day noted that Ohio State will honor former Buckeye’s star quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was tragically killed last weekend in south Florida. Day wasted little time following the breaking news to share his initial thoughts after someone he worked so closely with had died at such a young age.

While Haskins’ death is an awful situation, Day wants Saturday’s spring game to be in honor of the fallen Buckeye and to celebrate his life the best way they know how — playing football surrounded by beloved members of Buckeye Nation.

For the first time under Day, Ohio State’s coaching staff has elected the spring game to be a live scrimmage — which means full tackle, something the Buckeyes haven’t done since 2018. Day said it was the right time to transition back to tackling full speed during the spring, as Ohio State has plenty of younger starts-to-be that are in need of experience in game-like situations.

“I’m really looking forward to have a great turnout and having a lot of fun in the Shoe,” Day said. “This is a great opportunity to get your family here and be in the Shoe and be around this team.”

Before ending the video, Day made sure to let fans know where to go to buy tickets for Saturday’s spring showcase. Click here for more information about how to purchase tickets to the event. The game is set to kick off at noon ET live from Ohio Stadium with the Big Ten Network carrying the broadcast.
