College football’s early signing period for the 2022 recruiting class began on Wednesday (today) and lasts until Friday. Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day decided to have a little bit of fun with his 2022 recruiting class early signees by trolling them on Twitter.

He posted a collage of photos of the recruits–pictures from their younger days. Not only that, the Ohio State head coach made the image his new profile picture on Twitter.

You might wonder why Day would even think to post a younger pic of his recruits? Well, one of his class of 2022 signees, Alex “Sonny” Styles, decided to change his picture on Twitter of a photo of Ryan Day from his younger football playing days.

Styles changed his profile picture on Dec. 14, which prompted the move by Day today, the first day of the early National Signing Day. It’s probably even a stretch to call the move by Day a “troll”, it’s more of a playful jab by both parties. Styles was laughing about Day’s new profile pic on his Twitter timeline, so it’s clear both sides just having a little fun.

Ohio State pulled in a big-time athlete in Sonny Styles

Styles was a major commitment for the Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in their 2022 recruiting class. He’s a five-star athlete out of Pickerington Central (Pickerington, Ohio). He’s rated as the No. 2 athlete in the country according to the On3 rankings. Nationally, On3 ranks Styles as the No. 9 overall prospect in the country for the 2022 cycle. He chose Ohio State over offers from Notre Dame, Florida State, LSU, Florida, Michigan State, and many others. Listed as an athlete, Styles is expected to start his Ohio State career at safety. He just recently re-classified to the class of 2022, giving the Buckeyes’ 2022 class a major boost.

Another big land for Day and company in their 2022 recruiting class was five-star linebacker C.J. Hicks out of Archbishop Alter (Dayton, Ohio). Hicks is rated as the No. 2 linebacker in America, according to the On3 Rankings for the 2022 class. Nationally, he’s ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the country for the class.

The Ohio State coaching staff currently boast the fourth ranked recruiting class in the country, according to the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. The Buckeyes currently have two five-stars, 14 four-stars, and two three-star commits for the class of 2022.
